Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to use StuffHappens?

No. StuffHappens has no sign-in, no account system, and no server of its own. Every feature — capturing, browsing, tagging, and searching your memories — works immediately after install, with zero setup.

What is the Anthropic API key for?

StuffHappens uses Anthropic's Claude API to power two optional features: the Recall AI chat assistant, and automatic photo descriptions. These require your own API key, which you create for free through your own Anthropic account at console.anthropic.com. Without a key, every other part of the app — capturing, browsing, tagging, and searching — still works fully.

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything you capture is stored only on your device. We have no servers and cannot see your memories. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I back up my memories?

Go to Settings ▸ Data & Backup ▸ Export All Data. This creates a single backup folder containing your entire library — memories and media — that you can save to Files, AirDrop to another device, or store anywhere you like. Use Import Data to restore it later, including on a new device.

What is the Private Vault?

The Vault is a separate, Face ID (or passcode) protected space for sensitive memories. Move any memory in or out of the Vault from its context menu (long-press a card), accessible via the lock icon on the Feed.

I found a bug — how do I report it?

Email netbooee@gmail.com with a description of what happened and, if possible, steps to reproduce it. Screenshots help a lot.
