Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the StuffHappens mobile application ("the app"). By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these Terms.

1. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use StuffHappens on devices you own or control, solely for your own personal, non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and Apple's Standard End User License Agreement.

2. Your content

You retain full ownership of everything you capture and store in StuffHappens — photos, voice notes, text, videos, scans, and any other content ("Your Content"). We do not claim any ownership over Your Content, and since the app has no servers, we never receive, store, or have access to it.

You are solely responsible for Your Content and for maintaining your own backups. We strongly encourage using the app's built-in export/backup feature regularly, since content stored only on a lost, damaged, or reset device cannot be recovered by us — we have no copy of it.

3. Third-party AI services

StuffHappens optionally integrates with Anthropic's Claude API for AI-powered features (Recall chat and photo descriptions). Use of these features requires your own Anthropic API key and is subject to Anthropic's own terms of service. Any costs, usage limits, or availability issues related to your Anthropic API key are between you and Anthropic — we are not a party to that relationship and accept no responsibility for the availability, accuracy, or cost of Anthropic's services.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use StuffHappens to store, generate, or transmit content that is illegal, infringes on others' rights, or violates any applicable law. You agree not to attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or interfere with the app's normal operation.

5. No warranty

StuffHappens is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data loss will not occur.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app — including loss of memories stored locally on your device.

7. Termination

You may stop using StuffHappens at any time by deleting the app from your device. We may update or discontinue the app at any time. Because the app stores no account or server-side data, termination has no effect beyond the app no longer being available to you.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever changes are made.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the app developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
